Bibliotheque...

One rainy afternoon (romantis amat yah kesannya), I had dinner with a few friends at Bibliotheque, located in Sampoerna Strategic Square building. Bibliotheque is the French word for library, no wonder you could see bookshelves filled with old books on the wall. Interior-nya bernuansa brownish, terdiri dari 2 lantai, di lantai atas hanya 1 area kecil terdiri dari beberapa meja, di lantai bawah terdapat beberapa meja dengan kursi sofa, meja biasa, juga bar seat.

Ada juga area outdoor seperti gambar di bawah. Tempatnya menyenangkan buat hangout, romantis buat nge-date, secara pencahayaan malam minim, hanya saja sepertinya all rooms are smoking rooms, and when I entered this place, seperti ada bebauan aneh menyengat di hidung, but lama-lama udah ga berasa lagi, karena mungkin hidungnya udah adaptasi.

Okay, to the menu. Di sini dari suasana dan namanya saja sudah bisa diduga, menu makanan-nya mengarah ke western food, dan harganya pun tidak murah. Menunya terdiri dari beberapa sections : beef, pastas, main courses, desserts. Untuk beverages sendiri sebagian besar terdiri dari liquor, untuk non liquor paling murah sepertinya TWG tea, around IDR 30K++, or Equil, Evian, or Perrier dengan range harga kurang lebih sama.

Green Tea Frappuccino (IDR 45K++)

This is my drink, and YES! Tumben banget gw mesen minuman gini kan, hehe, abisnya lagi pengen. The frappuccino was milky but tasty, but kalo minum ini kebanyakan pastinya gw ga kuat (susah biasa minumnya teh tawar), so I just managed to finish half of this.

Escargot (IDR 40K++)

Escargot is the French word for snail. Snails are yucky to see but yummy to eat. Escargot di atas dibumbui dengan garlic butter & parsley, yummy!

Beef Lasagna (IDR 75K++)

I'm not a fan of lasagna, but this one tasted quite good, my friends loved it. The portion was also decent.

Spaghetti Chicken Pesto (IDR 65K++)

This one was also good, but a bit too salty.

John Dory Parcel (IDR 95K++)

The presentation was pretty. The fish was served in wrapped pastry. The sides were ratatouille & mashed potatoes. Nice meal!

Baby Chicken Rosemary (IDR 105K++)

The chicken was fried perfectly. I love the crunchy skin texture, the meat was tender, the sauce was also delicious.

Beef Steak Hache (IDR 105K++)

Nothing special about this one I guess. For me it was just an ordinary beef steak, or might be because I'm not a fan of beef.

Baklava Cashew Nuts & Vanilla Ice Cream (IDR 39K++)

Turned out, they were out of vanilla ice cream, so they replaced it with chocolate ice cream. I never had a baklava before, I just saw it on Masterchef shows, so I was curious about the taste and ordered one. For me it was like eating teng-teng kacang topped with pastry. Not bad, but not my fave dessert.

Mille Feuille (39K++)

Layers of crisp baked pastries separated by cream fillings couldn't go wrong. The Mille Feuille was good, but I prefer the one with more layers and thinner cream fillings.

Overall, Bibliotheque is a place with great ambience, gorgeous interior, and nice food :)
