Hello! It's long weekend soon! What are you up to this long weekend? If you are looking for a fancy place to have brunch, you gotta read this post. Suatu Sabtu saya berkunjung ke SALT GRILL, sebuah restoran oleh celebrity chef asal Australia - Luke Mangan. Kalian mungkin sudah sering mendengar tentang tempat ini yang terletak di lantai 46 gedung The Plaza - Thamrin dan dikenal sebagai salah satu restoran sky-dining terbaik di Jakarta.
Dari tempat ini, kita dapat melihat pemandangan kota Jakarta tepatnya di sekitar Bundaran Hotel Indonesia serta langit dengan sangat jelas. Saya pikir, pemandangan ini akan lebih cantik lagi di malam hari.
Dapur SALT GRILL Jakarta dikepalai oleh Marjon Olguera yang telah lebih dari 10 tahun bekerjasama dengan sang founder Luke Mangan. SALT GRILL mengambil konsep modern Australian cuisine untuk makanan dengan bahan utama seperti daging diimport langsung dari Australia.
Kala itu saya dan teman-teman datang ke SALT GRILL untuk menikmati 4 COURSE WEEKEND BRUNCH (Amuse Bouche, Entree, Mains, Desserts) seharga IDR 350,000 ++ dan sudah termasuk mocktails/iced tea di dalamnya.
Sebagai hidangan pembuka, SALT GRILL menyajikan complimentary bread.
Enjoyable bread, best dipped in Luke Mangan's cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and seeds.
Untuk minuman, saya memilih Peach Virgin Mojito.

Setelah beberapa kali makan di restoran fine dining, baru kali ini saya ngeh dengan istilah Amuse Bouche ini - a single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre / first course - different from appetizers in that they are not ordered from a menu by patrons, but, when served, are done so free and according to the chef's selection alone.

Amuse Bouche hari itu adalah roast pepper / capsicum dengan tomat dan burrata cheese di atas potongan roti.

Let's start with the entree. Untuk entrée saya memilih Sashimi of Salmon yang rasanya merupakan pilihan yang cukup safe. Tapi memang entah kenapa siang itu saya sedang ingin salmon sashimi.

I thought this sashimi is going to be ordinary, but I turned out to be wrong.

This Sashimi of Salmon, Ginger, Eschalot, and Goats Feta was super good! Potongan ikan salmonnya sangat fresh ditambah dressing yang sedikit manis namun sangat segar, dan goats feta yang memberi sedikit rasa gurih. I don't know how to explain it, but I love this entrée too much, period.
Di bawah ini adalah beberapa menu entrée lainnya pilihan partner-partner makan siang itu, yang mungkin bisa menjadi referensi kalian.

Next up, the mains.

The pork belly itself was cooked perfectly, and the truffle mash was also nice but the major turn down for me is the sauce that didn't suit my taste palate, a bit bland and lacking of that salty something. Mungkin karena saya terlalu terbiasa dengan crispy pork belly yang cenderung dimasak dengan rasa cukup asin. But overall, I enjoyed this menu well enough.
Untuk pilihan menu mains yang lebih aman, kalian mungkin dapat memilih Crumbled Chicken atau Grilled Barramundi. Kalau mungkin daging bukan menjadi pilihan kalian, Pappardelle Pasta dapat menjadi opsi. Kalau kalian ingin mencoba sesuatu yang agak unik dan berbeda, menu Swordfish dapat menjadi pilihan.

And finally we came to the awaited part of the brunch - desserts!

I just had the best Creme Caramel earlier that week at one of the 5 stars hotel in town that made me choose this Creme Caramel for dessert.

The Creme Caramel texture was more pudding like, not as soft as I thought it would be and I knew that the sauce was going to be sweet, but it was much sweeter than expected. Still it was a nice dessert.
Below are some of the other desserts menu you might one to try. Honestly I like the pancake, the texture was just nice and chewy, but pancake for dessert? Yeah, it doesn't matter anyway if you have a big tummy capacity.

You could find the complete Brunch menu HERE, served from 11AM-3PM on weekend. I won't say that I was super satisfied with the Brunch menu (unless for the Salmon Sashimi that blew me up), but still it was a nice brunch experience. I'll be back one day, on dinner time, for the grill menu. *fingercrossed
